Membership Plans
SAWS is an inclusive organization open to all women, age 16 and up. Membership is available through two paths, Full or Associate.

Full Membership
Full members are ladies who are able to trace their lineage back to Scotland. These members receive identical benefits to Associate members, except that they are able to serve in the Chair and Co-Chair positions on the board.

Associate Membership
Associate members enjoy the same benefits as Full members, but are not required to prove their Scottish lineage. Whether you're still working on tracing your Scottish roots or simply love all things Scottish and want to learn more about Scotland, its people and its culture, Associate membership is for you.

Application Process
Submit a completed application through the form above or by emailing documents to: ScottishWomenDC@gmail.com

Completed application packets must include the following:
​
- Application form with contact information
​
- Name of Sponsor: Before applying, you are encouraged to attend events (online or in person) and meet current members who may be willing to sponsor you.
​
- Scottish lineage (Required for Full Membership only; Optional for Associate Membership)
​
- Cover Letter: Please include a 1-page letter that explains your desire to become a member of the Society. The letter should outline your specific interests in and connections to Scottish culture, and also emphasize the strengths you have that would benefit the Society.

- Signed Code of Conduct form
​
Once your completed application is received, your materials will be reviewed at the next monthly board meeting and voted upon. Once informed of your acceptance to the Society, you will be given instructions to send in your membership dues.
Membership benefits do not take effect until dues are received.

Member Benefits & Annual Dues
Members of SAWS are eligible for the following benefits:

- Voting rights
- Opportunity to steer the future of SAWS by serving on the Board and other planning committees
- Early access and discounted tickets to events
- Access to members only social media groups
- Members only events
- Receive SAWS email newsletters

Annual membership dues are currently $60 and the renewal period runs between September 1st and October 31st. There is a discounted early bird renewal rate of $50, if dues are received between September 1st and October 15th.
​
Dues for new members who join mid-year will be prorated.

Connect to various free and for fee websites and resources to assist with your genealogy research. This downloadable document includes more than 100 websites, from the extensive resources offered by the United States National Archives to sites specific to researching Scottish and Celtic heritage.
